From encountering dinosaurs and butterflies to exploring a Croatian village and even having your face printed on a coffee, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss out on visiting Crape Myrtle Park during the spring and summer months. And for an unforgettable experience, why not take a ride in a hot air balloon?

Carrollton (20 mins)

Get ready to break a sweat at the North Texas Outdoor Pursuit Center, where you can experience climbing the tallest indoor climbing gym in North America! What makes it even cooler is that you’ll be scaling old grain silos! Alternatively, if you’re in the mood to unwind and relax, consider visiting a Russian spa in Carrollton for a rejuvenating experience. This great destination is full of unique things to do to have some fun!

Lewisville (20 mins)

Experience the purr-fect ambiance at the Charming Cat Corner, where you can spend quality time with some very cute feline friends. In Lewisville, the fun doesn’t stop there; you can explore a distillery for a taste of local spirits and immerse yourself in a real-life video game adventure.

Plano (20 mins)

Looking for summer road trip options from Frisco? Plano has you covered with some of the best summer activities. Personally, one of my best things to do in Plano is their challenging ropes course and treating myself to afternoon tea along the scenic Granite Park Boardwalk. When it comes to food, Plano’s culinary scene is unbeatable, offering a tantalizing variety of international flavors and cuisines to explore.

In Palestine, you can go on a historic train ride through the piney woods, visit a fairytale forest, and discover scenic waterfalls—all within close proximity to Frisco. With its diverse offering of attractions, Palestine offers an enchanting escape for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

Dublin (2 hours 15 mins)

While a day trip to Ireland might not be possible, you can still enjoy a taste of Irish inspiration with a visit to Dublin TX! Explore Things Celtic for authentic Irish gifts, as well as some other specialty shops, tour Dublin Bottling Works to make your own soda, and savor a glass of wine for a touch of luck. It’s the perfect place for a weekend escape!

Jacksonville (2 hours 20 mins)

Jacksonville is a nature lovers paradise! Discover the breathtaking waterfall at Nichols Green Park and explore the eight hiking trails within the Neches River Wildlife Refuge. For water sports enthusiasts, Lake Jacksonville beckons with activities like jet skiing and wakeboarding, while adventure seekers can enjoy off-roading fun at River Run ATV Park along the Neches River.

A short trip from Frisco, it offers family-friendly activities like trampoline parks, theaters, ziplining, art galleries, symphony performances, and ballet, along with craft breweries, wineries, and golfing.

Belton (2 hours 30 mins)

Belton offers many outdoor adventures around Belton Lake, a vast reservoir ideal for fishing, boating, and water sports, with a stunning waterfall as an added attraction. As the proud home of Texas’ first state park, outdoor enthusiasts can revel in beautiful scenery and endless recreational opportunities.

Additionally, Belton boasts the oldest department store in Texas and the charming Dancing Bee Winery, known for its honey-based wines. For a unique overnight experience, consider staying at an Airbnb on a llama farm inside a partially underground silo.

For more adventures, don’t miss the serene Blue Hole, which is a great spot for swimming. You can also explore the captivating Inner Space Caverns to delve into geological wonders.

Day Trips Less Than 4 Hours From Frisco

Round Rock (3 hours 5 mins)

Round Rock beckons with its selection of beautiful parks like Chisholm Trail Crossing Park, perfect for picnics, and water play, and there are even biking trails too. Relax while seated at one of the four picnic tables scattered throughout the park, or make your own picnic area with a blanket.

There are miles of trails perfect for hiking. Known as the “Sports Capital of Texas,” Round Rock offers baseball games and ballpark treats at Dell Diamond Stadium. Thrill-seekers and families can’t miss the renowned Kalahari Resort & Convention Center, featuring the largest indoor waterpark in the country. Explore downtown Round Rock’s charming streets lined with unique shops, restaurants, and cozy coffee spots.

Uncertain (3 hours 5 mins)

Discover the beauty of the world’s largest Cypress forest with a guided tour on a boat or by kayaking on Caddo Lake. Experience a unique stay at Caddo Shores Cabins, formerly known as Hodge Podge Cottages. Here, you can sleep in a renovated houseboat just steps away from the water. For more activities, nearby Jefferson and Marshall offer a lot of fun. Jefferson, dubbed the B&B capital of the world, boasts very cute accommodations and a vibrant antiquing scene.

Meanwhile, Marshall features wineries, the Harrison County Historical Museum (perfect for history buffs and an educational experience), antique shops, and the Bear Creek Smokehouse, where you can interact with and feed longhorns.

Brownwood (3 hours 5 mins)

Enjoy a unique dining experience by having lunch inside a train in Brownwood. With its charming and distinctive attractions, Brownwood is the perfect spot for a day trip destination. The city offers over a dozen romantic activities for couples looking to plan a memorable getaway from Frisco.

Lampasas (3 hours 5 mins)

Lampasas is celebrated for its therapeutic mineral springs, including Hancock Springs Pool, one of Texas’ few remaining natural spring-fed swimming pools. For a taste of nostalgia, visit Storm’s Drive-in. This is where Elvis Presley enjoyed strawberry shakes and burgers during his time at Fort Hood.

Delight in capturing memorable photos at the World’s Largest Spur, a testament to Lampasas’ cowboy heritage. Nature enthusiasts can go on an adventure at Topsey Exotic Ranch to encounter wildlife up close. Additionally, wine aficionados can enjoy the local wineries, offering exquisite wines. Flower enthusiasts can also marvel at the backdrop of blooming bluebonnets in the spring.

San Saba (3 hours 20 mins)

At Colorado Bend State Park, you can admire a 70-foot waterfall. It is a great place that you could easily spend the whole day exploring. If you have extra time in San Saba, go during pecan picking season to harvest some pecans for yourself. One of my favorites is to make a stop at the legendary Harry’s Boots for a taste of local culture.

Austin (3 hours 20 mins)

Going on a day trip to Austin presents a bunch of different options to explore. Enjoy breathtaking views while sipping margaritas at the Oasis. If you like great food, you can also indulge in the diverse culinary scene that Austin is famous for. Whether you’re working through a list of fun activities or exploring neighborhoods like East Austin, there’s no shortage of excitement and discovery awaiting you.

Burnet (3 hours 30 mins)

“It’s burn-it, durn-it, can’t you learn it!?”—a phrase we heard after mistakenly mispronouncing this charming town. After learning the correct pronunciation, we were delighted to explore Burnet’s attractions. These included visiting the caves, antique shopping, and experiencing the famous Devil’s Waterhole.

Manchaca (3 hours 30 mins)

Manchaca, a quaint town near Austin, offers plenty of excitement for a fun-filled trip. Enjoy a unique photoshoot with camels and zebras, have some of the best BBQ in Texas, and unwind at the local saloon for a truly memorable experience.

Conroe (3 hours 30 mins)

Prepare to be enchanted by the stunning scenery of Conroe, where the W. G. Jones Forest boasts towering pine trees amidst breathtaking beauty. Experience the peace of Lake Conroe by kayaking, paddleboarding, or going on a journey aboard the historic paddlewheeler, the Southern Empress.

Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the old-fashioned family fun park at 7-Acre Wood. This park offers activities such as a petting zoo, mini golf, a children’s playground, and an old Western play town to ignite your imagination. It’s guaranteed fun for the whole family!

Dripping Springs (3 hours 45 min)

Go on a journey to Dripping Springs, known as “The Gateway to the Hill Country.” Begin your day with breakfast at Mazama Coffee Co., a local coffee shop offering specialty coffees and homemade pastries. Next, venture to Hamilton Pool Preserve, a stunning natural pool featuring a 50-foot waterfall cascading over limestone outcroppings and surrounded by lush vegetation.

While swimming is currently not allowed, the emerald green water and breathtaking scenery promise a refreshing experience. Be sure to reserve your visit in advance, as this popular destination tends to fill up quickly.
