Free Holiday & Christmas Events in San Antonio
Free Photos with Santa at Bass Pro Shops
Visit Bass Pro Shops in San Antonio to snap with Santa Claus. From now until December 24, 2024, he’ll be at Bass Pro Shop locations! You can even shop for a loved one while you wait and enjoy Christmas tree lights, wooden ornaments, and bass cookie cutter giveaways while they last!
Reservations are required up to 7 days in advance. Reservations are easy and free. If you visit with kids, don’t miss out on Christmas Tales with Santa & Mrs. Claus every Tuesday. November 5, 2024 – December 17, 2024, at 5 PM.
The H-E-B Christmas Tree (FREE)
The Annual H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Travis Park is a heartfelt celebration that marks the beginning of the Holiday Season in San Antonio. This free, family-friendly event offers a variety of holiday activities, live entertainment, and delicious food, topped off with a visit from Santa. Join in for an evening filled with live music, local food truck delights, holiday crafts, and the opportunity to send letters to Santa with your wishes for the season.
The festivities start at 4 PM and culminate at 6 PM with the magical Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will illuminate the park with light and wonder. After the tree is aglow, gather with loved ones for a cozy screening of the holiday classic Home Alone 2 at 7 PM, surrounded by enchanting festive lights. November 29, 2024, from 4 PM to 9 PM.
Holidays on Houston Street (FREE)
If you want to catch some holiday vibes, you’ve got to hit up Houston Street. Spanning over five blocks, from Legacy Park to the Alamo, this 2nd annual holiday event features dazzling displays of twinkling lights, larger-than-life holiday décor, and a lively atmosphere filled with festive activities and entertainment.
Local businesses and eateries will also join in the fun, offering special treats and surprises to get you into the holiday spirit. November 29, 2024 – January 2, 2025.

Bad Santa Pub Run (FREE)
On the Rocks Pub will host a FREE Bad Santa Pub Run on December 6, 2024, from 7 PM to 2 AM. This 21+ holiday event will start at On the Rocks Pub, 270 Losoya Street, San Antonio, at 7 PM, followed by Group Picture at 7:50 PM, and then everyone will head to Cellar 47.

Westover Field of Lights (FREE)
Dive into an enchanting world with 350,000 synchronized lights, expanding over a half mile, accompanied by your favorite holiday songs at the Westover Field of Lights.

Along with the River Walk’s beautiful Christmas lights, 2,000 luminarias, the traditional Mexican Christmas lanterns, will illuminate the cobblestone path along the banks of the river. Experience the festive holiday lights above, the luminarias at your feet along the riverbanks, and Ford Holiday Boat Caroling while surrounded by the holiday spirit and cheer of the San Antonio River Walk. December 6 – 9, December 13 – 15, and December 20 – 22, 2024.
Breakfast & Pictures with Santa at Caliente Harley-Davidson (FREE)
Caliente Harley-Davidson will host a FREE breakfast with pancakes, eggs, hot chocolate, and pictures with Santa. December 21, 2024, from 9AM to 1 PM.

SeaWorld San Antonio’s Christmas Celebration
This event will showcase a wintry aquatic wonderland with themed performances, holiday cuisine, Santa Claus, Texas’ biggest Christmas light exhibit, and more! With lots of family-friendly attractions, including millions of twinkling lights in the park, meeting Santa, hot chocolate, and other festive holiday favorites, and dinner with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and friends, SeaWorld welcomes guests of all ages!
A magical Christmas experience, O Wondrous Night will tell the epic story of the Nativity as seen through the eyes of the animals who experienced it. This will be done through various inspiring puppetry, over 30 carols, and dance sets against traditional Christmas music. Celebrate a White Christmas in Texas

Holiday in the Park – Six Flags Fiesta Texas

You’ll find some fun, festive things going on at La Cantera! Take a pet photo with Santa on Mondays and Tuesdays from November 11, 2024 to December 10, 2024. Photo opportunities are open on multiple hours depending on weekdays and weekends. You can book your slot online here!
Ice Skating at San Antonio Square
Step into the holiday cheer at the largest ice-skating rink in San Antonio Square. This place turns into a cozy corner of winter joy right in the middle of our city. If you’re not keen on skating, there’s still plenty to do.
Kids can hop aboard the Polar Express train ride that will bring smiles. Also, don’t miss out on snapping some adorable pictures with their themed backdrops — they’re perfect for your family holiday cards!
Just remember, if you want to join in on all the non-skating fun, you’ll need a Winter Wonderland Pass. The ticket price is $5 for admission and $15 if you want to skate. November 15, 2024 – January 5, 2025.
Devine Acres Farm
If you’re looking for a cozy and fun Christmas outing near San Antonio, you’ve got to check out the Christmas Countryfest at Devine Acres Farm.
One of the highlights of the CountryFest is the opportunity to choose your own pre-cut Christmas trees & wreaths or cut down your own tree. There are also plenty of simple, fun activities for the kids and the kids-at-heart, including photo ops with Santa Claus, an array of delicious food, dessert, and drink options, a market square featuring live music, food & drinks, and fire pits for roasting!

Get Tickets to Las Nuevas Tamaleras
The Carver Community Cultural Center will show Las Nuevas Tamaleras on December 5, 2024, at 7:30 PM.
This delightful Christmas play has been performed in San Antonio since 1993 and has become just as much of a tradition as The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol. For over 30 years, San Antonio audiences have enjoyed the comical journeys of Silvia, Josie, and Patsy as they attempt their first tamalada, while the spirits of Doña Mercedes and Doña Juanita add drama through a playful recipe rivalry.
Centered on friendship, family, and camaraderie, the play evokes laughter, tears, and pride! Tickets are priced at $28 and are available online. December 5, 2024, at 7:30 PM.
Sing Christmas Carols on the Water
Bring your friends and reserve a boat for the Ford Boat Holiday Caroling experience. Individual caroling tickets are also available.
Alternatively, you can simply come and enjoy the free caroling, either from the riverbanks or from the comfort of a restaurant patio.
Reserve your spot online if you’d like to participate. Caroling will take place from December 4, 2024 to December 23, 2024.
Santa’s Railroad Wonderland
This holiday event at the Texas Transportation Museum will feature all kinds of holiday lights and decor. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, explore the museum and its grounds, and take photos with Santa. The museum will also offer $1 and $3 concessions and train rides.
Santa’s Railroad Wonderland will be open December 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, and 22, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 9 PM, with the last admissions at 8 PM. Parking opens at 5:15 PM. Pricing ranges from $9 to $12, and parking is free. Tickets can be purchased online, with limited tickets available at the door.
Christmas at the Caverns
Natural Bridge Caverns will feature professional singing groups and choirs performing your favorite carols inside the largest underground cavern in Texas, along with a 30-foot Christmas tree and a 1/3-mile path illuminated with holiday lights.
You can also take photos with Santa, play reindeer games in their 5,000-square-foot outdoor maze, and listen to Mrs. Claus’ captivating tales. There will also be s’mores, live music, 6-story twisted trails, a kid’s ice skating rink, and shops full of holiday gifts!
Tickets range from $18.99 to $47.99 and can be purchased online. Christmas at the Caverns will occur on December 7, 8, 14, 15, and 20 to 23, 2024.

The San Antonio Riverwalk Holiday Lights
Since 1975, the holiday lights on the Riverwalk have become one of the most iconic Christmas events in San Antonio! Witness a breathtaking presentation featuring over 100,000 lights adorning its majestic bald cypress trees.
You’ll find riverboats filled with Christmas carolers, restaurants where people enjoy each other’s company over dinner, and shops adorned with festive decorations and twinkling lights.
The shops along the Riverwalk offer a wide array of fantastic gifts, making it a joyful (and convenient) destination for holiday shopping. Holiday lights will remain on from dusk to dawn nightly (between 5:30 PM and 8 AM). November 30, 2024 – January 5, 2025.
The Light Park
The Light Park in Selma, Texas, is a renowned drive-through holiday light display known as one of the world’s longest light tunnels. The park features millions of lights, synced perfectly to the rhythm of festive tunes providing a dazzling show described as “the Brightest Show South of the North Pole.”
Beyond the light tunnel, the park also includes other electrifying light shows across its locations. Each show boasts over a million lights, adding to the festive atmosphere and making it a must-visit destination during the holiday season.
The Light Park will be open daily, seven days a week, through New Year’s Day. Only one ticket is needed per vehicle, starting at just $29 each. This event is also pet-friendly, with food and drink available for purchase. Get yours online now!

Crumbling Castle Lights: Drive Thru Forest of Lights
If you’re in San Antonio during the Christmas season, you definitely don’t want to miss the Crumbling Castle Lights.
The experience takes a magical twist with its drive-thru forest of lights. It’s like driving through a fairy-tale forest filled with thousands of sparkling lights. Tall trees are all lit up, creating a magical tunnel of colors. You’ll also come across animated light displays and festive scenes that’ll make the journey truly enchanting. The general admission ticket is $40, while the season pass ticket is $75.

Zoo Lights
The entire zoo will come alive with dazzling lights, just in time for the holiday season. This includes the addition of two new 32-foot L.E.D. trees and the illumination of all the themed areas throughout the zoo. Over 95 percent of the lights used are L.E.D., ensuring energy efficiency.
Exciting entertainment options, including Water Wonderland, Starry Safari, and Candy Lane, are available on-site. Here, you can meet enchanting characters, enjoy delicious treats, and engage in festive activities suitable for all ages. Gather around the campfire at Zoo Lights with your friends to roast marshmallows and indulge in s’mores. Hot cocoa is also available at these stations to complement your tasty snacks.

Alamo Lights of Tribute
This holiday season, you are invited to celebrate the spirit of love and remembrance by honoring a cherished individual with a luminaria at the Alamo. These lovable luminarias will illuminate the green lawn in front of Alamo Church during this Lights of Tribute event.
With a heartfelt donation of $10 or more to the Remember the Alamo Foundation, you can purchase a luminaria to honor or remember someone special. December 23, 2024 to December 25, 2024.
Old West Christmas Light Fest
During Boerne’s Old West Christmas Light Fest, Enchanted Springs Ranch is lit up with more than 2 million twinkling lights, with a spectacular light show in an authentic Old West town setting, along with holiday treats, live music, photos with Santa, s’mores roasting, face painting, petting zoo, and activities for everyone to enjoy. Tickets are available online.
The event will premiere on November 29, 2024 with the ranch aglow from 5 PM to 10 PM every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through December 8, 2024. Then, starting December 13, 2024, the light fest becomes a nightly event, open every day until December 23, 2024.
Catch San Antonio’s Iconic Christmas Parades
Ford Holiday River Parade
The 43rd Annual Ford Holiday River Parade & Lighting Ceremony will feature 27 illuminated floats, 5 entertainment floats, and over 100,000 lights along the San Antonio Riverwalk. The parade will begin at 6 PM at the Tobin Center before reaching other parts of the Riverwalk.
There are free places to sit along the East side of the Riverwalk between Pecan Street and Richmond Avenue, but these are only available on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must also bring your own chairs.
Otherwise, this parade will be a ticketed event (purchase tickets here), with seats at the Arneson River Theatre and along the 4-mile route. Some restaurants also offer packages specifically for the Ford Holiday Parade, including Taco Cabana.
If you can’t make it, the River Walk Christmas lights turn on from sundown to sunrise every day until the weekend following New Year’s Day. November 29, 2024.
Santa’s Parade at Village at Stone Oak
Get ready to welcome jolly ol’ St. Nick to town! Join the festive fun with a lively parade, starting at 12 PM near the old Wells Fargo building. Enjoy holiday entertainment, festive crafts and activities for kids, and don’t miss your chance for a FREE keepsake photo with Santa himself. December 7, 2024, from 12 PM to 3 PM.
Weihnachts Parade in Boerne
Join the holiday festivities at the 37th Annual Weihnachts Parade in Boerne, just a short drive from San Antonio. Experience the magic as nearly 100 dazzling floats light up Main Street, spreading holiday cheer throughout downtown.
Whether you choose to bring a chair and settle in along the parade route or enjoy an evening stroll down the Hill Country Mile, there’s plenty of fun to be had. The place is filled with Christmas lights and decorations that make it look like you’ve jetted off to a cozy cabin in the mountains. This 21+ event offers lodge vibes and summit views with 11 festive cocktails and martini flights, along with a selection of beer and wine.
