Romantic Date Ideas & Things to Do in Dallas TX

Dallas is often thought of as a city for business and sports, but it’s also a great place for couples! With its vibrant culture, stunning scenery, and diverse attractions, Dallas has something to offer every couple.

Looking for romantic things to do in Dallas? Bring out the roses and chocolates, because I’m sharing all the most romantic date ideas and (maybe even proposal-worthy) date night spots in Dallas! This is just a taste but if you need more ideas, check out our comprehensive list with over 155 things to do in Dallas!

Visit a Vineyard

Lost Oak Winery in Burleson, just an hour outside of Dallas, offers guided wine tastings on a first-come, first-served basis, and they even include a cheese tray! Pack a bottle of wine and some snacks for a picnic on the grounds, and enjoy a glass of wine while listening to live music.

You can also book guided tours or hang out on their lawn or covered patio to set the mood for your next romantic date night. Make some time to hike the Burleson Trail, a 2.25-mile loop. The trailhead is actually right next to the wine production facility!

Or pay a visit to Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine, the largest vineyard in North Texas. Tours are by appointment only.

Cross Timbers Winery, also located in Grapevine, has a small tasting room located inside a historic home with outdoor and indoor seating. Tastings and service are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Have Dinner Overlooking Dallas

Dinner at Crown Block at the top of the Reunion Tower is one of my absolute favorite romantic date nights in downtown Dallas! You get to enjoy an amazing meal over 500 feet in the air as the iconic Reunion Tower rotates, giving you a new view of Dallas with each turn!

You can also opt for a ticket to the observation deck if you’re trying to plan an afternoon date.

The romance is plentiful with the general admission ticket, but even more so when you purchase their “Love is in the Air” date night package, which is popular for proposals.

It includes VIP elevator service, physical and digital frame-mounted photos, and sparkling wine served in an engraved flute, which you get to keep.

They even offer guided tours and tickets that include daytime and nighttime tickets. This way, you can come back later to see what Dallas looks like when it’s all lit up at night!

Take Romantic Photos Together

Locals know that the ideal spot for photographs year-round is the stunning Dallas Arboretum. With flowers in bloom everywhere and amazing seasonal displays during the holidays, it’s the perfect place to snap some amazing couple photos — no professional camera necessary.

Or, book a private tour and learn all about the different plants from an experienced guide!

Go on a Romantic Stroll with Butterflies

At Texas Discovery Gardens, there are butterflies everywhere and the garden is full of beautiful, native plants and relaxing water features like the wildlife pond. You’re also welcome to bring an outdoor picnic!

Not to mention, the Children’s Aquarium and the African American Museum are just a short walk away!

Laugh the Night Away

A night out at the Dallas Comedy Club is an ideal date night for couples of all ages, regardless of whether it’s your first date or are looking to spice up date night. The best remedy for stress is laughter, so Dallas Comedy Club is sure to bring it!

Located in the heart of Deep Ellum, you can expect a lively vibe, plus a full bar and beer garden. Tickets are reasonably priced and some open-mic nights are free!

Snuggle Up at the Movies

Usually, date nights at the movies can get old, but at Landmark’s Inwood Theatre, they’ve converted their chairs into couches so you don’t have an awkward arm rest between you, making it easy to watch a romantic movie on the big screen while also cuddling!

Row into Romance

Fair Park is such a cute place, with multiple activities on-site that can make your hour or two together into an entire day! You can bring a picnic and then explore the rest of Fair Park, including multiple museums, but the best thing is definitely the swan boats!

Enjoy conversation with your partner and just a light workout while you take in the sights of Fair Park. If you can time it right, you might just get out on the water in time for sunset!

Explore Klyde Warren Park

This urban park is beautifully landscaped with gardens, fountains, sculptures, and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy each other’s company.

Check out their event calendar for fun, often FREE events like dance classes, movie screenings, local festivals, and more! You can often find food trucks in the park as well!

Listen to Live Jazz

The Balcony Club in Dallas has live music every night and is the perfect place for a laid back night enjoying drinks together.

Most nights, entrance is free, but make sure to purchase a drink and support this local Dallas business.

Book a Romantic Dinner at the French Room

I tried not to talk much about restaurants since that’s a pretty common date idea in Dallas with its abundance of restaurants, but eating at the French Room, located inside the Adolphus Hotel, is truly romantic!

The dining room is absolutely stunning, with large Greek columns and a gold-stained ceiling that looks something out of a fairytale. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported somewhere else! If you’re looking to splurge on a memorable date, the French Room makes it so worth it!

Their afternoon high tea service is phenomenal too and one of my favorite things to do in downtown Dallas!

Or a Tea Ceremony in a Garden

Visiting the Japanese Gardens is like traveling to another country without leaving the city! The whole vibe is so calm and it’s absolutely beautiful, making it perfect for a laid-back date. Walk hand-in-hand, cross the cute little bridges, watch koi fish glide around in the water, and relax under the shade of pretty trees.

The on-site tea house even offers traditional Japanese tea ceremonies! This is a great way to experience Japanese culture right here in Dallas!

Grab Grub at a Local Food Truck

One of the best things about food trucks is that they are often located in scenic areas, such as parks and plazas. This makes them the perfect place to enjoy a romantic picnic!

We personally love Klyde Warren Park, Truck Yard, and Thursdays on Tap at the Perot Museum also features different food trucks!

Experience the Toyota Music Factory

The Toyota Music Factory is more than just a live music venue! Although we love their open-air, boutique-style concert venue and their full entertainment calendar, there’s so much more to experience!

Stop by one of their numerous bars and restaurants, Alamo Drafthouse, or Stumpy’s Hatchet House, whether you’re there for a concert or not!

The plaza at the center of the Toyota Music Factory also hosts free events, and on a crisp autumn evening, nothing beats activities like fitness classes, watch parties, and more on the lawn!

Duplicate an Iconic Movie Scene

Another romantic date spot in Dallas that will be perfect for your Instagram feed and, more importantly, give you both an experience to remember is the Fort Worth Water Gardens.

The Active Pool is a large pool with cascading waterfalls and terraces. You and your date can climb down the stairs and walk through the water, or simply sit on the edge and take it all in.

The Quiet Pool is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for a more relaxing experience. The pool is smaller, less crowded than the Active Pool, and surrounded by lush greenery.

Fun Fact: a scene from the 1976 film, Logan’s Run, was filmed at the Fort Worth Water Gardens.

Picnic by the Water

If you’re looking for a date spot in Dallas surrounded by nature, then let me spill the beans: White Rock Lake is the place to be!

Whether it’s sailing, picnicking, or just taking a sunset walk, this place has all the romantic vibes. And those views? It’s the perfect backdrop for couple selfies.

During select times of the year, the sailing company Spirit of Dallas also offers public boat rides, including a romantic sunset and nighttime sail.

Visit a Free Museum

For a cultural, romantic date idea, plan an evening at the Dallas Museum of Art, one of the many museums in DFW that offers free admission.

A fun way to get to the DMA is to ride the free M-Line trolley. It runs from Uptown to downtown Dallas and makes a stop right in front of the museum. It’s a great way to experience the city and get to the museum in style!

Once you’re at the DMA, explore the art galleries together and discuss your favorite pieces of art. Extend your date by grabbing a cup of coffee or tea in the museum’s cafe.

Shop at the Dallas Farmers Market

The Dallas Farmers Market is a vibrant area in Uptown Dallas with local shops and an indoor food hall. They also host weekend farmers markets in their open-air pavilion, the Shed, where you’ll find everything from fresh produce and flowers to prepared foods and artisan goods. All products are from within 400 miles of Dallas, meaning everything is fresh and seasonal!

If you aren’t able to make it to the farmers market on the weekend, the food hall also has counters that sell seafood, meat, cheese, and more!

One of our favorite shops in the area is Folklore & Tradition Artisan Boutique. You’ll find a variety of unique, handmade goods from Mexico, including jewelry, home decor, and clothing with traditionally embroidered designs. They also host cultural events like their Tamale Fest!

Throughout the year, the Shed hosts a variety of events as well, including live music, festivals, and chef demos. Check their online event calendar to see what’s going on so you can plan accordingly for the best experience on your next romantic date!

Make it a Staycation

The Adolphus Hotel

My husband and I love staying at the Adolphus Hotel. Not only is it designed after a German Beaux castle, but its location, breakfast-in-bed package, rooftop pool, spa, and high-tea service make it hard to pass-up for your next romantic overnight stay or weekend getaway in Dallas.

During the holiday season, the Adolphus also goes all out with their decor and holiday festivities, including a giant Christmas tree, Christmas tea, hot cocoa, an upstairs Christmas bar with holiday tents! Click here to read more about the holiday experience at the Adolphus.

The Hall Arts Hotel

If you’re in the mood for a date night that combines luxury, art, and exquisite cuisine, then Hall Arts Hotel in Dallas is the perfect place!

The lobby is sleek, stylish, and covered in modern art, which is fitting considering it’s located in the middle of the vibrant Arts District. The rooms are beautiful and the suite we stayed in had a beautiful, romantic soaking tub with views of downtown.

Whether you’re a guest of the hotel or not, you can enjoy a romantic dinner at Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge. The menu has everything from perfectly seared steaks and delectable seafood to cocktails and wine from the hotel’s very own vineyard. Come on Wednesdays for discounted bottles of wine or Happy Hour every week day from 4pm to 6pm.

Their are other events available to the public as well, like tasting experiences, artist talks, and more!

Hotel guests have access to complimentary bicycles they can use to take the 1-mile Tour de Art route and explore the Arts District. Or, attend a private art tour of the hotel followed by a wine tasting at Ellie’s.
