Growing up I knew I wanted to travel the world. What never crossed my mind was finding a career that I was passionate about that would give me the flexibility to do just that. I now realize that there are a mass number of incredible remote based jobs that not only allow you to work from home (or the comfort of a coffee shop in Bali) but also offer high pay (AKA more money to spend in that cool resort with the infinity pool overlooking the canopy of tropical trees).
How to Find the Best Career Choice
When thinking about what career you want to pursue, it’s important to realize that most jobs will involve hours behind a computer, and many of these careers are tech related. Yet, technology is so vast that it’s easy to find a field you’re passionate about.
Brookhaven College has a Visual Communications program where people can pursue different tracks including:
UI/UX Design
Graphic Design
Web Design
All of these programs involve creativity, psychology, art skills, and other talents. In addition, these skills transfer to a host of other remote-based careers. The professors are passionate about what they do, and actually have experience in the field people want to explore (such as a professor who worked as the UX Designer for Zales!).
The great thing about the Dallas County Community College District is that whether you just graduated high school and are ready to start higher education, or you’re stuck in a job that doesn’t match your dreams, there are opportunities for you. People can opt to take one or two classes to boost their current resume, sign up for a program that only takes two semesters, or enroll in one of their two-year programs. There’s an option to fit everyone’s needs. Not to mention these classes are affordable with scholarship opportunities available as well.
These programs are also great for the stay-at-home parent looking for jobs where they can spend time at home with their kids, the jetsetter who dreams of traveling the world, and the person looking for flexibility. If you know someone who is looking for that work from home or travel job, feel free to share this and help more people find a career to provide financial stability and flexibility.
