Float the Guadalupe River at Guadalupe River State Park
Spring break in Texas isn’t complete without a river float in the Guadalupe’s crystal-clear waters! Just a short drive from San Antonio, Guadalupe River State Park offers some of the best tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding in Hill Country. Newbies can rent gear onsite. If you are more interested in dry land outdoor activities, you can explore 13 miles of hike and bike trails, camp at one of 85 water and electric campsites or nine walk-in tent sites, ride horses or spread a picnic by the river.
Be sure to join the Guided Bird (March 30, April 13, and May 11, 2025), suitable for ages 10 and up. This easy, 2-mile walk over level terrain leads you through stunning birding habitats during spring migration season. Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark Resort features four sections, each as large as most regional waterparks, complete with a swim-up bar, a not-so-lazy river, a children’s area, and unique attractions. It’s a great vacation hotspot for families, offering six accommodation styles, from basic hotel rooms to multi-room vacation homes.
While the entire park isn’t fully open until summer, on the Spring Preview Days (April 18 to May 23 & May 27 to 30, 2025), you can enjoy the preseason opening of select rides, slides and rivers at Schlitterbahn. The 2025 seasonal passes are already available on the website for just $105.



Pick Your Own Berries at Sweet Berry Farm
If you’re heading to Marble Falls, don’t miss Sweet Berry Farm for a classic springtime activity—strawberry picking! This family-friendly farm is known for three things: Tulips, Strawberries, and Sunflowers. Strawberry season starts in early March and extends till early May. Remember, these are the dates the farm is most likely to open for the season, but it’s best to check their website and social media or call them before you visit!
Other activities at the farm keep the whole family entertained, like the berry bounce house, sand art, the Sweet Berry Express, Paint-a-Pot, and pony rides. Grab a homemade ice cream or popsicle if you need a minute to power back up!

Conquer Enchanted Rock
For the best panoramic views of the beautiful Texas Hill Country, hike up Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg. Reaching the massive pink granite dome requires a steep 425-foot hike, but the springtime weather makes the trek much more enjoyable, and the panoramic views from up top are truly rewarding.
Be sure to visit early in the day, as spring break crowds can fill the park quickly. With nearly 11 miles of hiking trails to explore, you can backpack, camp, rock climb, picnic, bird watch, study nature, geocache, and stargaze.



Step Back in Time at Fredericksburg’s Pioneer Museum
History enthusiasts will find inspiration at the Pioneer Museum, where the legacy of German settlers who shaped Fredericksburg comes to life. The Pioneer Museum features ten historic structures that beautifully illustrate the diverse facets of Gillespie County’s past. Hundreds of artefacts like log cabins, a blacksmith shop, wagon rides and captivating audio and virtual experiences bring history to your fingertips.
The museum’s Spring Break Week (March 17 to 22, 2025) invites all the history nerds to come and engage in activities such as Frontier Living History, Music & Storytelling, Rock Masonry, Blacksmithing, Mexican/Texan History, Antique Toys & Games, Chuckwagon Cooking, and Rope Making.
Salute Heroes at the National Museum of the Pacific War
Also in Fredericksburg, this world-class museum takes visitors deep into World War II history with immersive exhibits and interactive displays. This immersive museum honors war heroes with tanks, aircraft, and reenactments.
Spring Break Spy School (March 10 to 14, 2025) is an exciting drop-in activity that calls all secret agents to dress up like a World War II spy, and learn the art of espionage and uncover the secrets of spy craft during the Second World War. As a spy, you’ll create your own gadgets as you gather intelligence, crack codes, and more!

Step Into History at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park
Spring break is the perfect time to dive into Texas history at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site in Stonewall.
