Located 25 miles east of Dallas, Rockwall is a small town with big-city surprises. It’s a vibrant and thriving community in Texas with a population of almost 50,000 and growing. In fact, it was recently named one of the best places to live in the state! Plus, it holds a special place in my heart because it’s where my husband proposed.
I originally started this as a post for things to do in Rockwall in one day, but considering there are a whole lot of attractions and family-friendly activities in Rockwall, I bet you can easily make a weekend out of this beautiful town.

BEST THINGS TO DO IN ROCKWALL TEXAS
Brunch in Rockwall & The Downtown Square
We started our day in the historic downtown area of Rockwall and got breakfast at Book Club Cafe. Their migas were my favorite and I’m usually picky about migas. Make sure to pair your breakfast with one of their signature lattes. I got a Benny-Bourbon & Vanilla latte. It was such a unique drink and a treat! To finish up breakfast, we got a blood orange mimosa. The great thing about Rockwall is they let you open carry in their downtown area, so after leaving the cafe, we spent our time browsing the local shops while sipping on mimosas.
Shop Local At Rockwall Farmers Market
On Saturdays from May to September, downtown also hosts the Rockwall Farmers Market in the historic square, which is full of fresh produce and homemade goods. Picture yourself wandering through a vibrant market filled with fresh, locally sourced goods. As you stroll along, you can spot a variety of vendors selling mouthwatering beef, freshly baked bread and pastries. There are also beautiful flowers and plants, colorful fruits and veggies, aromatic coffee, pure honey, and so much more.
Enjoy A Wine Tasting
After browsing through cute boutiques, we stopped at the San Martiño Winery & Vineyards for a fun little wine tasting. The staff is friendly, and for $20 per person, you can try 5 different wines. Make sure to check out their website for special events!
Relax at the Spa
Belfiore Salon & Day Spa offers the ultimate relaxing getaway! With its different spa packages, you can get a lovely massage or pedicure or take a full girl’s day retreat. Belfiore goes out of its way to ensure its guests receive an incredible experience and is the best spa in Rockwall.

Visit the Harbor Rockwall
After our stop, we headed to Rockwall’s main attraction: The Harbor. Seriously! How is this body of water so close to Dallas?! We enjoyed the froyo at Twisty Treats (this place had the most froyo toppings I’ve ever seen), walked around to view the fountains, and enjoyed a great meal at Gloria’s.
Right near the docks is a railing that holds a group of locks. It’s like the lock bridge in Paris, filled with locks of love. Chief and I got our own lock and sealed it there for whenever we go back and visit.
The boardwalk is one of the main highlights of this place. It offers picturesque views of Lake Ray Hubbard that take your breath away. The architecture is stunning, with string lights hanging over the promenade, fountains, flowers, picnic areas, and a sparkling blue lake dotted with boats. The picturesque lighthouse adds to the charm and beauty of the place, making it an ideal spot for a romantic date or a fun family outing.
The Harbor is also home to a splash pad for kids and KidMania playground, where they can explore an expansive play area with slides, climbing structures, and swings. Plenty of green spaces attract you to picnic, play games, or relax with your loved ones.
We ended our day by setting sail on a 1.5-hour cruise with Sail With Scott. Sitting on this gorgeous boat with my husband, reflecting on our day, and watching the sunset as the waves rolled by was so nice. It’s BYOB, so we brought a picnic basket of wine and cheese. It was the picture-perfect way to have a date!

If you are in Rockwall during the summer, it is worth checking out what Rockwall Summer Musicals has playing. Last time we were there, we went to see Into the Woods, one of my favorite musicals, for its dark humor twist on fairy tales. You’ll be surprised to see some Dallas professional singers and actors trekking to Rockwall to be part of such an amazing team and list of productions.

Pick Blueberries at Blase Family Farm
Located just five minutes from downtown Rockwall, Blase Family Farm is a pick-your-own blueberry farm designed to provide a healthy and natural environment where you can reconnect and enjoy quality time amid the countryside.
Harvesting the freshest blueberries during the summer berry season (May through July), or exploring the enchanting attractions of the pumpkin patch in the fall makes this place one of a kind in Rockwall.
More than just a farm, it’s a fun place to spend the whole day with kids. Step into the lively Petting Zoo and meet friendly llamas, alpacas, sheep, donkeys, and pigs! Hop aboard on a classic hayride and take a scenic journey through the picturesque farm. Let the little ones navigate the Hay Maze, specially designed for their safety.

Reflecting on my recent trip to Rockwall, Texas, I feel incredibly grateful for the exceptional experiences and warm hospitality the city provided. Despite being close to Dallas; Rockwall has maintained its small-town charm while offering big-city amenities that attract visitors and families for a weekend getaway. Every moment I spent there was a treasure, whether it was savoring delicious meals at local eateries, immersing in the local festivals and events at the square Rockwall, or exploring gift shops and speciality stores in Downtown.
