A 2 ½ hour kayak to reach a hidden gem falls in Junction on the Llano River is unmatched. I haven’t found any names for these falls except Junction Falls. Be sure to bring your own kayak for this upstream trip, and don’t forget to explore the numerous swimming holes along the way!

Lake Belton

Lake Belton offers a vast water expanse in central Texas, ideal for kayaking and canoeing. With its 12,300 acres of clear water and greenish tint, the lake is surrounded by beautiful cliffs and lush greenery. You can explore hidden coves only accessible by boat, enjoy fishing, or simply bask in this picturesque spot’s scenic beauty and solitude.

Don’t forget about the 60ft man-made waterfall at Belton, accessible only by boat or kayak. It’s visible from Temple Lake Park, so be cautious while exploring the area. The steep, rocky terrain of the shoreline can be slippery, so wear sturdy shoes and take your time. The nearby Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area provides excellent facilities for a fun day.

Guadalupe River

The Guadalupe River, running through the heart of Texas Hill Country, is the most popular spot for kayaking, thanks to its crystal-clear waters and exciting rapids. Starting near Kerrville and winding its way to New Braunfels, this river is a favorite among thrill-seekers and nature lovers. Kayaking here offers a mix of calm stretches and exhilarating whitewater, making it suitable for all skill levels.

If you desire a leisurely float over the river instead of a heart-pumping kayaking adventure, rent a kayak on the lower Guadalupe River below Canyon Lake, where the river is wider and slower. And while you are there, don’t miss out on Rockin’ R River Rides tube and raft rentals to enjoy an exciting glide along the river road, lined by beautiful campsites, cliffs, and a few fun little rapids. Caddo Lake
