Lodging Options at Fuller’s Folly River Ranch

When it comes to lodging options, Fuller’s Folly River Ranch goes above and beyond the ordinary.

Guests can choose from four distinct places to stay: The Magical Treehouse, the Hobbit Tree House, Sundancer on the Brazos, and Grandpa’s Farmhouse. Each one is equipped with AC/heating and indoor plumbing, among other luxuries.

Additionally, guests of Fuller’s Folly have complimentary access to kayaks, paddleboards, and inner tubes during the summer months, as well as a shuttle service that’ll take you to a drop-off point for a one-hour float back to the ranch.

Other activities include ax throwing, hiking, fishing, petting barnyard animals, and more!

The Magical Treehouse

Elevated 11 feet off the ground and surrounded by towering trees, this enchanting treehouse can accommodate as many as 8 guests.

Complete with three bedrooms (one king, one queen, and four twin bunk beds), two full bathrooms, a full kitchen, a screened-in porch with a custom-made dining table, a propane grill with utensils, and a deck with a private hot tub and a fire table, there’s plenty of space for an entire family or even a bachelor/bachelorette party!

The outdoor area on the ground floor also has a firepit with chairs and a hammock hanging nearby if the weather proves favorable for s’mores or drinks by the fire.

The real showstopper is the 11-foot spiral slide that tunnels right off the deck, providing endless fun for both the young and the young-at-heart.

The Hobbit Tree House

If you’re a smaller travel group, perhaps a family with kids, the Hobbit Tree House features two bedrooms; one with two queens and another with two kid-size loft beds.

Inside, you’ll also discover there is a full kitchen, full bath, and three dining areas (one inside and two outside on both the upper and lower decks).

Its magnificent deck, elevated 15 feet above the ground, is furnished with a hot tub, grill, and fire table, where you can enjoy the soothing sounds of your own private waterfall.

Sundancer on the Brazos

Immerse yourself in a world of luxury and adventure with Sundancer, a stunning handmade African Safari tent. Although it may sound like this accommodation isn’t very spacious, the opposite is true!

With enough space for up to four guests on a queen-size bed and a queen sofa pull-out bed with fresh linens, everyone will sleep comfortably!

The kitchenette is equipped with a mini refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, and microwave. Meanwhile, there is also a full bathroom, a wrap-around deck, an outdoor Japanese soaking tub, propane grill, and firepit.

Fun Fact: The Sundancer has actually served as a filming location in legendary filmmaker and actor Robert Redford’s movie, The Old Man and the Gun.

Grandpa’s Farmhouse

Steeped in over 50 years of history, this farmhouse has been well maintained and updated with care, offering a rustic retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

The farmhouse is located just a 3-minute drive from the Brazos River. It boasts two bedrooms and 1.5 baths, comfortably accommodating up to 8 guests. There’s also a full kitchen, firepit, wrap-around porch, and grill with a picnic table in the backyard.

Adjacent to the farmhouse is the Big Red Barn, whose second floor has been transformed into a unique, 3,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor space. It can either serve as additional sleeping space, with three roll-out beds and a seating area.

The proximity of the Brazos River means you’ll likely encounter native wildlife!

Inner Tubes & Kayaks (No Reservation Required)

Indulge in the tranquility of the Brazos River with complimentary inner tubes and kayaks. Hike or drive to the river, or there’s a one-way shuttle that allows you to take a leisurely one-hour float back to the ranch!

Once you’re there, relax in nearby chairs overlooking the water, splash in the rapids, or explore the powder-white islands. Picnic tables are available for your riverside dining pleasure.

Barnyard Visit & Feeding (24 hr Advanced Reservation Required)

Meet and feed Dennis the donkey, Sugar, and their barnyard friends. Visit the chicken coop for farm-fresh eggs.

Due to the rising cost of care, a $12 fee is applicable for a family or group visit to the barnyard.

Petrified Wood Laboratory (No Reservation Required)

Explore the Petrified Wood Laboratory using magnifying glasses. Discover the mysteries of petrified wood and get a glimpse into some of the area’s ancient forests.

Fairy Forest (No Reservation Required)

Unleash your creativity by building houses for fairies out of sticks and twigs. They’re rumored to keep the fairies coming back. You’ll likely see some from previous visitors too!

Painted Rock Station (No Reservation Required)

Express your artistic side at the Painted Rock Station. Paint river stones, keep them as souvenirs, or hide them around the ranch for others to discover.

Learn Roping Skills (Advanced Reservation Required)

Enhance your ranch skills by practicing roping on T-Bone, the roping dummy, at the Big Red Barn.

Visit the Big Red Barn (No Reservation Required)

Explore the second floor of the Big Red Barn, transformed into an indoor/outdoor space with couches, rugs, and a hammock. Play with the barn kitties, but refrain from feeding or taking them to your cabin.

Hike to the River (No Reservation Required)

Embark on an easy 20-minute hike through the Fairy Forest, with directions provided in your Welcome Book.

Scavenger Hunt (No Reservation Required)

Engage in a scavenger hunt with a Fuller’s Folly coloring book and guide, encouraging you to slow down and connect with nature using all your senses.

Float the Brazos (24 hr Advanced Reservation Required)

Experience a lazy river float back to the Ranch when you take the shuttle with your inner tubes up to the drop-off.

Private Cabana on the River (24 hr Advanced Reservation Required)

Indulge in a personal cabana on an island in the river, with lounge chairs and tables. It is a perfect retreat, with shelter from the sun and the soothing sounds of the Brazos.

Ax Throwing (24 hr Advanced Reservation Required)

Test your aim and have a blast while throwing axes in the yard at the Big Red Barn. 

Fishing

Explore the fishing opportunities in the river just above the rapids or in the ranch’s ponds. Catch white bass, black bass, perch, catfish, or even the occasional striper. A fishing license is required for the river, but not for the ponds on the ranch.
