You don’t need a telescope to enjoy the view as many stars, planets, and constellations can be seen with the naked eye. For the best experience, give your eyes about 20 minutes to adjust to the darkness and use a red light if you need a flashlight.

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve

For a unique nature experience, visit Oso Bay Wetlands. It a 162-acre preserve with about two miles of nature trails. Wander through the wetlands, look for local birds and wildlife, and learn more about coastal ecosystems at the Learning Center. Hazel Bazemore Park Hazel

Hazel  Bazemore Park is a great place to visit this fall. Located along the Nueces River, the park is a popular spot for watching hawks and other birds of prey during their fall migration. You can also enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, and picnicking while taking in the waterfront views.

In 2026, the park will also host Celebration of Flight from September 25–27, 2026, a free, family-friendly event with hawk identification, local vendors, food trucks, and other activities.

Ocean Drive
