You might have heard about glamping in a tepee, but have you tried glamping in a Conestoga Wagon? At Orr Family Farm in Oklahoma City, you can enjoy the beauty of camping outdoors with starry nights, along with all the creature comforts, including air conditioning, running water, and more. Best of all, this spectacular family-friendly getaway also offers a variety of rides, educational opportunities for kids, Easter Bunny visits, birthday parties, corporate events, and, of course, delicious food.
Plus, read about all the other unique things to do in Oklahoma City this weekend.

Sleeping in a Conestoga Wagon
I couldn’t believe how much space there was in these wagons! We had a king bed, two bunk beds with a total capacity of sleeping six people, a mini fridge, and a table! It was like a mini home! The wagons feature heating and air-conditioning for year-round comfort. Even with temps around 100, we stayed nice and cool inside! Access is via stairs, and they have secure private locks.

Nearby are tile-lined private bathrooms with a shower, so you don’t have to rough it! The Orr family does a great job at keeping it clean (one of my top priorities!) Each family gets their own for privacy.
Other amenities include a private charcoal grill, a central fire pit with Adirondack chairs, a microwave, refrigerator, battery-powered lantern, fire extinguishers, and a swim spa.

Things To Do at Orr Family Farm
More than just sleeping in a wagon, the Orr family offers an astounding array of free things to do at the farm, making your stay a complete experience. Upon check-in, you’ll also receive a s’mores kit for evenings by the fire, which they keep running until late hours.

Want to train like Michael Phelps or enjoy a relaxing evening in a hot tub? They have a 19-foot Michael Phelps signature spa that you can reserve. This spa features two distinct areas: you can swim laps (so to speak) with the current or relax in the hot tub portion. Having been to hotels where kids or random people surround you, it was nice to get a workout and then relax in the hot tub without having to share it with others.

However, if you’re staying overnight, you get access to the farm even after it’s closed, which means no lines and more fun! When we went, we practically had the park to ourselves, and while not everything is open, there’s enough for a few nights of fun. You can play human football, roll through giant tubes, ride bikes, and enjoy more fun! While geared towards kids, my husband (who is basically a big kid) and I had plenty of fun and spent most of our time playing two-man human foosball (totally possible and very exhausting, ha-ha).

Seasonal Farm Adventures
No matter when you visit, Orr Family Farm knows how to bring the fun—but there’s something extra magical about their seasonal events that keeps an extensive number of visitors coming back year after year.

A visit to the Orr Family Farm during the farm’s award-winning fall season, mid-September through mid-November, includes family activities such as a giant corn maze, train rides, hay ride, and a pumpkin patch. Families can ride the Jupiter, a replica of the United States’ first transcontinental locomotive, which accommodates up to 100 guests, or enjoy a spin on a fully restored 1974 vintage carousel. Thrill-seekers can zip down a 425-foot zip line, while younger visitors love pony rides, pedal cars, the animal barn with a feeding area, giant jumping pillows, and the playground. The Farm Fun Yard offers games and even a chance to pan for real gemstones, adding to the hands-on excitement.

The spring season, from March through late June, brings its share of fun with colorful Easter Egg Hunts and the farm’s popular Strawberry Festival. These special events feature seasonal treats, fresh strawberries, and family-friendly activities that celebrate the arrival of warmer days.

If you’re looking for something unique for your kids (or your adult self), the Orr Family Farms Conestoga Wagons offer a truly unique place to stay in the heart of Oklahoma City, as opposed to a traditional hotel experience.
