One of the hardest parts about planning a wedding is the budget. I vowed to not go over mine, but that’s because I didn’t know the price of vendors and came up with a random number that I thought sounded good. Unlike many other vendors, some provide unique and exceptional services that can make your event truly special. A big issue is that many vendors don’t include the cost, so you could call up hundreds of places and spend hours of research just to find something in your budget. The mission of many wedding vendors is to create memorable moments and exceed client expectations with each event they plan. After doing nonstop research on venues in DFW, I realized there was no way I was going to get a venue and stay within my budget. Recently I started using WeddingWire’s Wedding Cost Guide and it’s helped me create realistic expectations on what I would spend on each vendor.

Based on the information from the Cost Guide, I put together a list of what you can expect to spend in Dallas for every budget as well as a list to help you start your search!

Photographers

Using the current WeddingWire Cost Guide, wedding photography in the U.S. typically ranges from $1,150 to $3,000, with the average wedding photographer costing around $2,000. Prices can vary depending on the photographer’s experience and expertise, location, wedding date, coverage time, and what is included in the package.

Lower Range =  $500+

Couples on a smaller photography budget can find photographers offering shorter or more basic packages. For example, current Dallas-area WeddingWire listings include photographers starting at $500–$1,000. Be sure to check how many hours of coverage, edited images, and other services are included before booking.

Average Range = $2000

This is around the current national average reported by WeddingWire. Packages at this price point can vary significantly, so compare what’s included rather than looking at the price alone. Coverage may include several hours of photography, edited digital images, and potentially engagement sessions or additional services.

Higher Range = $3000+

At the higher end, couples may be paying for more experienced photographers, longer coverage, second shooters, engagement sessions, albums, or other add-ons. WeddingWire notes that a second photographer can increase the cost, while additional services such as albums, extra hours, and engagement sessions may also be priced separately.

Flowers

Lower Range = approx. $150 or less

At the lower end, couples may need to keep their floral choices simple, use more greenery, choose seasonal flowers, or handle some arrangements themselves. Average Range = $1,200–$3,000

Many WeddingWire planners currently list starting prices within this range. Depending on the package, services can include partial planning, vendor coordination, timeline creation, rehearsal coordination, and managing the wedding day itself.

Higher Range = $3000+

More involved or full-service planning packages can start at $3,000 and go considerably higher. These planners may help with everything from choosing vendors and managing the budget to designing the wedding, coordinating logistics, and overseeing the celebration from start to finish. WeddingWire currently has listings with starting prices of $5,000 and above.

Cake

Lower Range =  $100 or less

Couples working with a smaller cake budget can look for simple designs, fewer servings, or smaller cakes. Current Dallas WeddingWire listings also include local bakeries with starting prices below $100, although the final price will depend on the size and design of the cake.

Average Range = $400-$800

This is where many Dallas couples will find themselves when choosing a wedding cake. A cake in this range can include custom flavors and designs, multiple tiers, and other details depending on the baker and number of servings. WeddingWire notes that larger and more elaborate cakes generally cost more.

Higher Range = $1100+

Average Range = $2000-$7000

Spending more opens up a much wider selection of wedding venues, including banquet halls, hotels, gardens, and full-service event spaces. Current WeddingWire listings include venues such as, The Crown Venue at $2,995, The Wildwood Inn at $3,000, and The Mason Dallas at $7,000.

Higher Range = $8000+ 

For couples looking for luxury hotels, larger properties, or more comprehensive venue packages, prices can quickly climb beyond $8,000.

Music and entertainment can really set the mood for a wedding, whether you want a DJ keeping the dance floor busy, a live band bringing extra energy to the reception, or a musician playing during the ceremony. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, WeddingWire has options ranging from solo musicians and smaller entertainment packages to full live bands and DJs with additional services such as MCing, lighting, and photo booths.
