August Events in Texas: Best Festivals, Pride, and Late-Summer Things to Do

August in Texas has a very different kind of energy than July. The huge fireworks weekends are mostly behind us, but in their place you get Pride events, late-summer festivals, food-focused events, art walks, concert nights, and the kind of getaway weekends that still make summer feel worth stretching out a little longer. If you are looking for the best August events in Texas to plan around, this is the list I would start with.

I rebuilt this guide using official 2026 pages whenever they are already live. When an organizer has not posted the final 2026 details yet, I only kept events with official pages that clearly show they are real, ongoing August traditions so this can still help you plan instead of just sending you to another expired roundup.

Before you lock in any August trip, click through to the official page for tickets, parking, weather plans, and final schedules. August is one of those months where events still happen all over Texas, but exact times and lineups can keep shifting as summer gets closer.

Texas Trips Under $50

If one of these August events turns into a full weekend idea, my Texas travel guides make it really easy to build the rest of the trip. That is usually how I use them too. Once I know the anchor event, I just need the nearby food, hidden gems, and small stops that make the weekend feel fuller.

By City

Austin

  • Austin Pride Festival + Parade (August 22, 2026): If you want one of the biggest August events in Texas, this is such a strong one to build around. Austin Pride already has the 2026 date live and makes it clear that the whole day centers around a citywide Pride celebration with both the festival and parade.
  • PBR Teams: Gambler Days (August 21-23, 2026): If you want a very different kind of August weekend in Austin, this is a great one to have on your radar. PBR’s official 2026 schedule already has the three-day Moody Center event posted for Austin.
  • The Front Festival (August 27-30, 2026): This is one of the best August Austin picks if you want something that feels creative, local, and a little more interesting than the usual big-ticket event circuit. Future Front’s official site already has the 2026 dates live for its end-of-summer music, film, art, and community festival.

Bryan

  • First Friday in Historic Downtown Bryan (Recurring monthly): If you want an August event with a more relaxed local feel, Bryan is such a good fit. Destination Bryan describes First Friday as a monthly downtown takeover with live music, performances, art demonstrations, and interactive activities, and it is one of those events that still feels worth building a small-town weekend around.

Corpus Christi

  • First Friday ArtWalk (Recurring monthly): This is one of the easiest August coastal events to recommend because it already gives you a full evening plan. Downtown Corpus Christi’s official event pages make it clear that ArtWalk is a recurring first-Friday event with art, vendors, food trucks, and music.

Dallas-Fort Worth

  • DFW Restaurant Week (August 2026): If you want one of the best August foodie events in Texas, this is a really easy one to plan around. The official 2026 site says DFW Restaurant Week returns for the month of August with prix-fixe meals across the Metroplex that also benefit North Texas charity partners.
  • Cool Thursdays Concert Series (Summer series): If your August Dallas plans lean more scenic and low-key, this is a great one to keep in mind. The Dallas Arboretum’s official page says the 2026 concert series returns with lake views, live music, and garden access as part of its long-running summer tradition.

Fredericksburg

  • Fredericksburg Trade Days (August 14-16, 2026): If you want a Hill Country weekend built around shopping, food, drinks, and live music, this is a strong August option. The official Fredericksburg Trade Days site already has the full 2026 calendar live, including the August weekend.

Galveston

  • Beats on the Beach at Palm Beach (Every Saturday through August 8, 2026): This is such a fun August beach-side event if you want something that still feels summery and built out. Moody Gardens already has the 2026 dates live for the Saturday series with live music and fireworks over the water.

Grapevine

  • Texas Coin Show (August 21-23, 2026): If you want a more niche August weekend that still gives you a reason to spend time in Grapevine, this is a solid one. Grapevine’s official event listing already has the 2026 convention dates, hours, and location posted.

Houston

  • Houston Restaurant Weeks (August 1 – September 7, 2026): This is one of the biggest August food events in Texas and an easy Houston trip anchor. The official site says the 2026 event begins August 1 and runs for 38 days, with participating restaurants helping raise money for the Houston Food Bank.
  • Flea by Night (Recurring late-summer market): If you want a lower-pressure August Houston plan that still feels fun and social, this is a great one. Discovery Green describes it as a recurring open-air market with local makers, artists, vintage finds, food trucks, and live entertainment.

Lubbock

  • First Friday Art Trail (Recurring monthly): This is one of the most dependable August arts events in West Texas if you want something public, creative, and easy to work into a weekend. LHUCA’s official page says the event happens the first Friday of every month, rain or shine.

New Braunfels

  • Gruene Market Days (Recurring monthly): If you want an August Hill Country event that feels easy, charming, and low-stress, this is a good one to keep in mind. Gruene’s official page says Market Days has run for more than 30 years with nearly 100 artisans, free live entertainment, and free parking.

San Antonio

  • Fiesta Noche del Rio (Through August 1, 2026): If you want a classic San Antonio summer night, this is still one of the best picks. The official Fiesta Noche site says the outdoor show runs Friday and Saturday evenings through August 1 at the Arneson River Theatre.

Wichita Falls

  • Hotter’N Hell Hundred (August 27-30, 2026): If you want one of the most iconic late-summer events in Texas, this is absolutely worth calling out. The official site already has the 2026 dates posted for the famous Wichita Falls cycling weekend.

August is a really good reminder that summer in Texas is not over just because July ends. You can still plan around Pride, food events, arts weekends, market days, coastal nights, and one last big road trip before fall starts taking over everyone’s calendar.

If you are planning ahead, save this page now and check back as more organizers post the rest of their final August 2026 details. This is one of those months where the biggest anchors are easy to spot early, but smaller additions keep rolling out later.
