Best Restaurants in Shenandoah, TX

A firsthand guide to where to eat in Shenandoah, TX, from 24-hour dining and celebration dinners to ramen, bakeries, mochi donuts, and soft serve.

I’ve always loved visiting the places people might drive past without thinking twice, and Shenandoah has been on my list for a while.

I was excited for their giant Italian structure, but once I got there I also became impressed with everything else we found, especially when it came to food. In this compact city you’ve got 24-hour breakfast, halal Mediterranean food with belly dancing performances, Asian eateries, and even a Mexican food spot with late night dancing and partying.

This guide focuses specifically on restaurants in Shenandoah, TX. You’ll find everything from full sit-down meals to quick dessert stops. If you’re looking for more than restaurants, read my complete guide to things to do in Shenandoah.

Quick Note: Shenandoah often gets mixed in with The Woodlands. Many restaurants and businesses may use Woodlands in their names, but this guide covers specifically Shenandoah, Texas as I believe it has its own distinct little culture.

Best Restaurants in Shenandoah, TX

Katz’s: 24-Hour Meals

Katz’s Never Kloses brings a New York-style deli and diner menu into a restaurant that truly stays open 24 hours (not something I really expected ā€œin the suburbsā€). The red booths and all-day breakfast give it the diner side, but the towering sandwiches and smoked fish make the deli side impossible to miss.

I ordered the Bagel with Lox. It came with this huge layer of smoked salmon over cream cheese, capers, and red onion. Definitely the biggest lox meal I’ve ever had.

You can also order the salmon as a sandwich on toasted rye with cream cheese, capers, tomato, red onion, and lettuce. The current menu offers that version in three tiers: Skinny, Klassic, and New York.

I wish I could explain how massive this menu is and how many unique items are on it. There are all-day breakfast plates, waffles, burgers, soups, pastas, seafood, comfort-food entrĆ©es, cheesecakes, espresso drinks available specifically at the Shenandoah location, cold brew, flavored iced teas, cocktails, beer, and wine. View the full Katz’s menu.

The Reuben is their signature order. You can choose corned beef, pastrami, or turkey on grilled rye with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing.

Sin Yolanda: Dinner and a Party

If you want a quiet dinner, Sin Yolanda is not where you go.

The story starts in Guadalajara, Mexico, where the first Sin Yolanda opened before the concept came to Texas. Its first U.S. location opened on the San Antonio River Walk in December 2025. Shenandoah followed in April 2026 as the second Texas location.

Our table had aguachile, queso fundido, elote, and an arrachera-style steak. The aguachile had chile and citrus up front, followed by tangy sweetness from watermelon. The queso fundido arrived hot and stretchy for scooping, while the elote brought creaminess, chile, and the sweetness of the corn. The arrachera gave us a grilled, savory plate between the colder aguachile and the richer queso.

The larger menu includes grilled octopus, quesabirria, birria plates, enchiladas suizas, chilaquiles, pastor in hibiscus sauce, Mayan pork, rib-eye, tres leches, and flan.

Once it gets a little later, they bring out cowboy hats and microphones in preparation for a night of sing-alongs and dancing.

They also have a crazy birthday celebration that is not for the shy. We had Ismail’s birthday celebrated here when the team came out carrying large flashing light sticks and blowing whistles, brought shots and a piece of cake, and turned our table into the center of the restaurant. When Ismail leaned forward to take a bite of cake, it went into his face instead.

Lama: Halal Food and Belly Dancing

Lama serves halal Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Persian food. You can order hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, shawarma, kebabs, lamb chops, seafood, rice, salads, and sauces. The current menu has individual entrƩes, Persian dinners for two or three, half platters serving five or more, and full platters serving ten or more.

A huge mixed meat platter with beef, chicken, and gyro took over the center of our table. The rice, meat, salads, and sauces were all spread across one platter for serving from the middle.

Lama currently has live belly dancing on Fridays and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8 p.m. During our visit, we were amazed by the dancer’s different performances, including balancing a tray of lit candles on her head. Ismail volunteered me for audience participation. Apparently, marriage includes offering your wife to the belly dancer.

We finished with Persian tea after dinner, brought out in a decorative tea set.

Lama has been serving the area for more than 20 years.

Kyuramen: Ramen and Omurice

Kyuramen’s interior has honeycomb-shaped booths, warm wood, lantern-style lighting, shoji-inspired dividers, and hanging wish plaques overhead. The restaurant itself is large, but the semi-enclosed booths and dividers keep the tables from sitting together in one open dining room.

We ordered the Yinyang Bowl, curry omurice, Thai teas, the Honeycomb Platter, and a Teriyaki Beef Rice Burger. The Yinyang Bowl is divided down the middle with two broths, Tonkotsu Shoyu and Sapporo Miso. I can never decide which ramen flavor I want, so I loved finally getting two in the same bowl.

The omurice is brought to the table as a soft omelet sitting over chicken fried rice. They slice it down the middle tableside, and the egg falls open over the rice before the curry sauce is added.

The Honeycomb Platter, named after Kyuramen’s honeycomb-shaped booths, arranges several small bites across a matching honeycomb-shaped tray. The Teriyaki Beef Rice Burger replaces a standard bun with pressed rice around the beef, and the Thai teas were creamy and sweet.

Kyuramen is quick enough for a casual meal.

Bakeries, Donuts & Dessert Spots in Shenandoah

Knead Me: Sourdough and Pastries

Knead Me began at the Farmers Market on Tamina before owners Kristy and Tony Tamayo opened the Shenandoah bakery. They brought that market community into the storefront with them. The shelves feature eggs and honey from Triple J Farms, jams and jellies from 3 Kinds and a Pup, and art and ceramics made by local artists, giving other small businesses space inside the bakery too.

They’re serious about making bread the old-fashioned way. The dough is kneaded by hand, made without preservatives, and left to rise while they serve customers. They use unbleached flour, pasture-raised eggs, local honey and jams, and freshly milled flour from Barton Springs Mill.

I love a good cinnamon roll, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried a blueberry sourdough cinnamon roll, so I had to get that. They also had other unique treats like orange white chocolate cookies alongside familiar bakery staples like scones and muffins.

Since the breads and pastries change, I would look at the current case instead of arriving for only one flavor. This is where I would buy a sourdough loaf for later, choose a few pastries for breakfast, and add coffee or tea before continuing around Shenandoah.

MunchMunch: Mochi Donuts and Boba

MunchMunch is known for its mochi donuts, but it is really an Asian bakery paradise. The case can include cream puffs, croissants, danishes, kolaches, sweet breads, mousse cakes, and colorful pastries, while the drink menu adds boba and teas.

I probably shouldn’t have ordered so much, but there were so many amazing-looking treats. I figured anything we didn’t finish could become a snack for the drive home, so I kept adding to the box. We ended up with ube pastries, milk tea buns, pistachio croissants, bunny-shaped pastries, and mochi donuts. The pistachio croissant had a nutty cream filling inside the flaky pastry, while the ube treats added mild, earthy sweetness and bright purple color. The mochi donuts have a chewier bite than a standard yeast or cake donut.

The selection rotates, so some things might change. You can pick up breakfast pastries, split several desserts, order a boba drink, or bring a mixed box back to the hotel.

SomiSomi: Soft Serve and Taiyaki

SomiSomi pairs Korean-inspired soft serve with taiyaki, the fish-shaped pastry that can be served alongside the ice cream or used as its cone. We chose the Nutella-filled taiyaki, so every bite had a warm, crisp-edged pastry around the chocolate-hazelnut center.

The soft serve had a lighter texture than many frozen desserts. You can also get taiyaki filled with custard or red bean and rotating soft-serve flavors and swirls.

If you are already eating or walking around Metropark Square, save SomiSomi for dessert.

Even when a restaurant is generally accessible, the exact setup can vary depending on where you park, which entrance you use, and where you are seated.
