Shenandoah, Texas stayed on my mental “stop here eventually” list for years.
Every time I drove between Houston and other destinations, I’d see this giant Italian-looking structure off I-45 and wonder what exactly was over there. Against the normal highway blur of chain stores, gas stations, and frontage roads, it looked wildly out of place and just the kind of quirky thing I’m drawn to.
The city is just over 2.2 square miles. Inside those few miles are newer hotels, bakeries, ramen shops, med spas, escape rooms, anime stores, dessert spots, and indoor activities. Concerts, restaurants, nearby activities, and Houston-area plans all end up within a short drive of each other.
