Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos Review: Family-Friendly All-Inclusive Resort Guide

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos all-inclusive resort review

I usually lean toward adults-only resorts, so initially I wasn’t convinced that a family-friendly all-inclusive like Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos would be my style. But after staying there, I opened my mind a bit. There were a few things that made our girls (+ Ismail) trip to this resort one I’d actually recommend to others:

  • Visiting in January meant fewer crowds
  • There were still adults-only spaces when I wanted a break
  • The ocean views were incredible, and we saw so many whales
  • There were multiple pools, so it never seemed like everyone had to be in the same place
  • The renovations made this place even more upscale and brighter

If you want an all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos that is family-friendly but still gives you places to step away, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos could be a great option.

Quick verdict: Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos worked better for me than I expected because it gave us the convenience of a family-friendly all-inclusive without making the whole stay revolve around kids. Between the whale views, multiple pools, good food, and adults-only spaces, there was plenty to love.

When it comes to all-inclusives, I’m a little obsessive. I want to know what the rooms are actually like, whether the beach is swimmable, if the food is worth it, and whether I’d book it again. So in this Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos review, I’m covering the rooms, pools, restaurants, beach setup, airport convenience, and the parts of the resort that stood out most to me.

Top Things to Know Before Booking Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos

Renovation Note

During our stay, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos was in the middle of major upgrades, and we even got to try the new Italian restaurant the day it opened. If you are comparing older Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos reviews, keep in mind that the property has been updating rooms, restaurants, and shared spaces, so newer stays may look different from older photos.

If active work is a deal-breaker for you, I would still double-check your room building and any current renovation notes before booking. For me, the updates made the resort look brighter and more polished overall.

San Jose del Cabo Location

This resort stood out to me because when I think of resort trips, I usually picture Cancun. Los Cabos has a completely different backdrop with mountains, desert, and ocean all in the same view. I also liked being on the San Jose del Cabo side because it was more laid-back than staying closer to the party side of Cabo.

Whale Views Were a Standout

One of the most memorable parts of our stay was how often we saw whales. During whale season, we kept spotting breaches and tails from different parts of the resort, which made the oceanfront setup even better.

Family-Friendly with Adults-Only Spaces

If you are traveling with friends or family but still want somewhere quieter to reset, this is one of the things Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos does well. There is an adults-only pool, adults-only dining spaces, and adults-only room sections, so every part of the resort did not have the same energy.

Food Was One of the Better Surprises

I always care about whether an all-inclusive is actually going to deliver on food, and this one did better than I expected. Between the variety of restaurants, ocean-view dining, and some genuinely memorable dishes, the food ended up being one of the reasons I would recommend the resort.

Beach, Ocean Views, and Swimmable Water

The scenery here is one of the biggest reasons this Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos review stands out to me. You get the Sea of Cortez in front of you, mountains in the background, and during whale season there is a good chance you will see whales right from the resort.

The big caveat is that Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos does not have a swimmable beach. The ocean is beautiful to look at, but the waves and currents are rough, so this is the kind of resort where you enjoy the beach views and spend your actual water time at the pools.

Check-In, Check-Out, and Airport Convenience

One thing I appreciated right away was how easy the resort was from an arrival standpoint. Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is about 20 minutes from the airport, so you can land and get settled without turning day one into a full travel day. Check-in was smooth, and the staff made the arrival process easy from the start.

Since we had an upgraded suite (club-level), we were escorted to a private check-in area, where the staff took extra time to explain all the resort amenities and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. It was a nice, personalized touch that set the tone for the rest of our vacation.

As for check-out, it was just as seamless. The process was quick, and we didn’t have to worry about any last-minute hassles. They even asked if we needed help with transportation or any last-minute questions about our stay. The whole departure was easy.

Rooms, Swim-Up Suites, and Renovated Spaces

Room type matters here more than I expected. My biggest debate was whether I wanted a swim-up room so I could hang out in the water all day or a balcony room so I could keep looking for whales from the room.

The renovated rooms looked brighter and more updated, with colorful design details and newer finishes. The room we stayed in was part of the original side of the resort, but it was still comfortable and easy to settle into, so I would not rule out the older room categories if price matters more to you than being in the newest section.

Bright hotel room featuring a queen bed

If you want one of the more memorable room setups, the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos swim-up rooms are worth a look. Being able to step out into the water added a lot to the stay, especially on a trip where we spent plenty of time at the resort.

With rooms often starting around the higher mid-tier range, I think the value comes from how much is on property. You are paying for the room, the all-inclusive dining, the pools, the activities, and the convenience of not having to over-plan every part of the trip.

Pools, Spa, and Resort Amenities

A big part of why Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos works for so many types of travelers is that there is enough going on to keep the trip easy without making the resort hard to navigate. The pools, spa, adults-only spaces, and club amenities gave us plenty to do without making the resort seem overpacked.

Pools

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos has multiple pools, and that made a real difference on this trip. It never seemed like everyone had to be in the same place. We spent a lot of time at the main infinity pool, but I also liked that there was an adults-only pool when I wanted something quieter.

We also loved the adults-only pool, which is ideal for winding down in a quieter setting. It’s right next to the Baja Bar, so we could enjoy cocktails in peace while soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.

For families, the KidZ Zone is a must-see, with a mini waterpark, 5 slides, a splash pool, and a sandy playground to keep the little ones entertained (though it’s currently closed for upgrades). And after a day of poolside fun, there are 2 hot tubs to kick back and unwind.

Spa

After a day of fun in the sun, we treated ourselves to some much-needed relaxation at Zen Spa. One of the highlights of our experience was the Hydrotherapy Circuit. It’s a full-body relaxation experience, with various water features like steam rooms, saunas, and invigorating jets that help ease tension and refresh the senses. You can also take advantage of the spa’s wide range of rejuvenating treatments, from soothing massages to refreshing facials and body treatments,

Fun Activities and Entertainment

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos offers a packed schedule of fun activities and entertainment that keeps the energy high and the good times rolling! We had a blast with Aqua Cycling.

An added amenity of booking a small group retreat was that we were actually able to book our own private classes such as the aqua cycling class we did!

There’s such a wide range of activities from live piano music in the lobby to trivia nights, beach classes, and thrilling live performances. Each evening features a unique show—magic acts, tropical dance, and live music by the resort band. During the day, enjoy tastings, bubble parties, non-motorized water sports, and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities, all included in the all-inclusive package.

For active guests, there’s water aerobics and the option to book private fitness classes. Kids can have fun at the KidZ Club and water park, while adults relax with a drink by the pool.

Restaurants and Dining at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos

Food can make or break an all-inclusive for me, so this was one of the areas I paid the most attention to. Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos had enough variety that I never got bored, and more importantly, there were a few meals I would have been happy to pay for outside an all-inclusive too.

We got to try Farina & Olio right as it opened, which made the renovation updates easy to see in real time. Dozo was another standout, especially the sushi and teppanyaki experience, and Casa Cortez ended up being one of my favorites for both the food and the view.

If dining is one of the biggest ways you judge an all-inclusive, this is one of the stronger reasons I would put Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos on your list.

Nearby Attractions

Even if you mostly plan to stay on property, the location makes it easy to add a little more of Los Cabos to your trip. You are close enough to explore San Jose del Cabo, book excursions, or add a half-day outing without turning the resort stay into a logistics project.

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos Review: FAQs

Is Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos beach swimmable?

No. The beach is beautiful, but the currents are rough, so this is not the kind of Los Cabos resort you book for easy swimming in the ocean. It works much better if you want ocean views and plan to spend your time at the pools.

A tranquil beach scene at dusk

Does Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos have adults-only areas?

Yes. This is still a family-friendly resort overall, but there are adults-only pools, adults-only dining spaces, and adults-only room sections. That helped a lot on my stay because I could enjoy the social side of the resort without every area having the same energy.

How far is Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos from the airport?

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is about 20 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport, which makes it one of the easier resort arrivals if you do not want a long transfer after landing.

Does Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos have swim-up rooms?

Yes. We stayed in one of the swim-up room categories, and it was one of the room types that stood out most to me. If you plan to spend a lot of time on property, that setup adds a lot to the stay.

Was Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos recently renovated?

Yes. During our stay, the resort was going through major updates, and some of the newer restaurants and brighter shared spaces were already open. That is part of why older Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos reviews may not fully match what a newer stay looks like.

Who Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos Is Best For

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is best for families, friend groups, Hyatt loyalists, and travelers who want an all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos that is easy to settle into. It is also a good fit if you care more about ocean views, whales, pools, and on-property dining than having a swimmable beach.

I would not put it at the top of the list for someone who wants a true adults-only resort or someone whose top priority is swimming in the ocean every day. For me, it worked because there were still enough quieter spaces to step away when I wanted them.

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos Review: Final Thoughts

Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos ended up being one of those trips that surprised me in a good way. I went in expecting that I would miss the quieter adults-only resort style I usually book, but the adults-only spaces, whale views, good food, and easy layout made this one much easier to enjoy than I expected.

If you want a family-friendly all-inclusive resort in Los Cabos with strong views, multiple pools, and enough variety to keep the trip easy, I would absolutely keep this one on your shortlist. I would just go in knowing the beach is more for the view than for swimming.
