Car Power Converter With Plug
I find that my typical “office” is actually in my car! I’m taking phone calls out of it and working on my laptop. For this reason, not only do I need multiple plugs to charge my mobile phone and electronic devices, but I also need to be able to plug in my laptop.
I use this exact model daily and all of my devices stay charged! It’s one of the best things to get that I can highly recommend, and a great way to stay connected.
Car Seat Gap Filler
When we first switched to mechanical seats, we heard the story of one of the people at the dealership dropping a pen or lipstick without realizing it and then moving the seat back, breaking the system, and having to pay almost $1,000 to get it fixed.
As you can imagine, the first thing we bought were these car seat gap fillers, and it was such a good idea! Since our interior is black, I don’t even notice them and often forget, but it’s so nice to have the peace of mind of not having to suddenly pay a lot of money!
Insulated 1 Gallon RTIC Jug
Yes, I love my insulated cups, and our front stays packed with multiple bottles, but while traveling in the Texas heat, those simply aren’t enough! We keep our one-gallon jug in the back and refill it whenever possible.
Considering that each of us goes through about a gallon of water a day, this allows us to refill the water bottles we use up front and often have enough water so that when we get back from a hike or anything else, we still have more water! It’s an easy way to stay hydrated when you’re driving long distances for hours.
Air Pump
The amount of nails we’ve accumulated on road trips is insane! I feel like I am single-handedly keeping the tire industry alive! Having an air pump has really helped not slow down our road trips with side-of-the road tire repairs, especially when the repair shops aren’t open.
Also, by inflating the flat tire ourselves, we usually don’t need to make more than a 3-4 minute stop before being on our own way, so it’s the best option for saving time on your long car ride. While you shouldn’t need these road trip gadgets for daily use, you’ll be thankful on the times you do.
Car Trash Can
If you live in your car as much as we do including eating in it and having receipts, etc., you very quickly accumulate trash! We tried using a normal plastic bag from the grocery store, but once we got a car trash bag that you can hook behind your seat, it is really the best bet for keeping our car clean! It’s the best way to stay neat because it is such a great car organizer.
Car Dash Cam
About 6 months into getting our dash cam, a car pulled into our lane as we were driving and hit our side. Luckily, we came out safe, but the other driver insisted that it was not their fault. I am so grateful that we had our dash cam because all we had to do was send it over to our insurance company, and they immediately ruled in our favor, whereas before, we had to argue our case (about 6 years prior) when a very similar situation happened and the company tried to put us at 30% fault. It was a whole hassle convincing insurance; it was 0% our fault.
Also, it turns out we say a lot of funny things on road trips. We will sometimes go back and save those funny conversations for ourselves. It’s a good option for safety and making memories!
Car Cooler
I can’t help it, I like color! This soft-sided cooler from RTIC comes in so many fun pastel colors that when I take it out for hiking or a picnic, it’s fun to look at. I love that it’s collapsible so that when it’s not full, I can take it with me. It’s some of the best gear for your road trip packing list.
High Brew
I cannot go without coffee! I usually have at least a case or two in my trunk, and then two or three on my side door for traveling. They don’t need to be refrigerated, which makes it so convenient for traveling, and thanks to the nice cans, in general, it stays pretty cool.
They have all different flavors, including black, slightly sweet, dairy-free, and nitro, but my favorites are mocha and peppermint mocha (I stock up in the winter to have them for as long as possible). I like a little sweetness in my coffee, but not too much, and I have found these to be some of the higher-flavor, lower-sugar options! I’m actually drinking one as I write this, and it makes a great addition to my days!
Tile Mate
I am horrible about losing my keys. I even lose them in the car all the time. However, I recently lost my keys so badly that I haven’t seen them for over a year, and they are good to be gone. Since then, we have tiled everything that I own because then we can at least track it. It’s one of the right car accessories to get if you are forgetful like me!
Car Diagnostic Reader
With our new car, we no longer have to use this. However, this was so helpful with our older vehicles. Whenever that unnerving warning light came up, we didn’t have to worry about going to the repair shop and being quoted too much. All we had to do was plug it in and it would give us the error code.
It also helped us know whether it was an issue that needed to be taken care of immediately or something that could wait a little bit. If you are driving an older car, this is one of the most essential car accessories to save the driver’s time and money.
