I’ve rounded up some of my favorite spring break ideas, from Austin and Houston to Galveston and Corpus Christi. Spring’s mild temperatures make this 102-step-climb sweat-free and enjoyable, and it’s a great spot for family photos against the backdrop of an Austin sunset. Once you reach the top, take a moment (or maybe an hour) to admire the sweeping views of the surrounding area from the deck and pavilion at 781 feet, and then perhaps spread a family picnic with picnic tables available on the spot.

Rodeo Austin (March 14 to 29, 2025) is a spring break staple offering thrilling rodeo competitions, bull riding, live music, delicious fair food, and a family-friendly fairground with carnival rides and games.
