Texas is home to some fantastic flower picking farms, conveniently located near Dallas-Fort Worth and throughout the state. No matter your location, you can partake in the enchanting experience of flower picking. It’s important to keep in mind that harvesting dates may vary depending on the season or year, so be sure to contact the farms in advance or check their social media for updates on available blooms.

While we strive to keep this list of flower picking destinations current, it’s always a good idea to verify the information, as things may change annually.

Flower Picking Near Dallas-Fort Worth

Pure Land Farm (McKinney, TX)

Choose from sunflowers, blackberries, muskmelons, tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers, and much more! The farm is open from mid-May through the end of July, and you must make reservations in advance, or you’ll go home empty-handed! There are three time slots for harvesting during the day that you can choose from. Season passes are available, but one-time admission is $5 plus tax per person for access to the field, even if you don’t pick. Be sure to check their social media for the next pick date.

Each harvest season has different prices; we suggest you look them up on the website in their FAQ. The great thing about the farm is that they offer field trips and workshops throughout the year where you can learn more about plants, farming, and working in the field. 

Pet Friendly: No.

Skye Flower Field + Floral Studio (Hurst, TX)

When you pick flowers in their field, you also support using regenerative agricultural methods and chemical-free, sustainable practices! In addition to picking your own flowers, they teach you how easy it is to plant your own, how to care for and harvest them at home, and finally, how to make stunning flower arrangements for these specialty cut flowers!

Their Flower Cutting and Arranging Workshop is happening on June 15, 2024 and costs $95 per person, while the Seasonal Garden Planning Workshop will be on September 7, 2024 and costs $75 per person. We love that this is an investment in a skill! You get to leave with knowledge, flowers, and beautiful pictures!

Go to their website to book a farm workshop class before they sell out! You can also book for special events, like weddings.

Pet Friendly: No. 

Lavender Ridge Farms (Gainesville, TX)

This is the only local farm in Gainesville where visitors can pick their own lavender in the summer! They’re open from early June to the end of July, depending on when the flowers bloom.

The great thing about the farm is that they’re dedicated to lavender, which is reflected in their household, personal care products, and the food served at their café! You can try their homemade lavender ice cream or their lavender cream cheese and take home fresh-cut lavender to spread around your home! For 2024, the farm is open from March until October, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 AM to 5 PM while their onsite cafe is open from 10:30 AM until 3:30 PM.

Their Garden Center also has a weekly rotating selection of all kinds of plants, along with potting mixes and other garden essentials. 

Can’t make it out? They also sell their lavender products on their website! You can always check their Facebook page for updates.

Texas-Tulips (Pilot Point, TX)

Prepare for a breathtaking sight of 6 acres full of tulips of all shapes and sizes! The season starts in mid-February and ends in early April, depending on the weather. Hours of operation are Monday through Sunday, from 10 AM until 8 PM. The admission fee is $6, and each flower costs $2.50, and they wrap them for you to take home, ready to be transferred to a vase, and brighten up your home! Texas-Tulips is also the perfect place for the most unique photoshoot opportunities in North Texas. Professional photographers entrance fee is $25 to receive a day pass and entrance fee or each client is $6.

Abundant Flower Farm (Blue Ridge, TX)

Gather ten or more people and book a private flower-picking session for $50-$100 per person or just come out once the season starts (usually between April and May, depending on the harvest). To book a private session, send an email to abundantflowerfarm@gmail.com.

At their farm in Blue Ridge, you can stroll the fields, take photos and feed the animals. The cool thing is that they also offer a table of bouquets ready to take home, and you can also sign up for their workshops, where you’ll learn how to make bouquets. You can organize professional photography sessions for any of your special occasions. Explore the many ways you can get involved at their farm on their website!

Tulipalooza (Waxahachie, TX)

Tulipalooza happens in Waxahachie and opens for ten days each year, from late February to mid-April. However, it is best to check the opening dates and hours announced on the official website! Hundreds of thousands of tulip bulbs are imported from Holland and planted in Getzendaner Memorial Park.

John Poston, the festival host, came up with the idea of creating a tulip garden as a marketing strategy to bring awareness to Daymark Living, a project close to his heart. Daymark Living is a residential community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities where they can live a normal everyday life with professional, medical assistance. 

At Tulipalooza, you can create your tulip bouquet from more than 250,000 blooming tulips and know that proceeds from the event will support scholarships funds at Poston Gardens Foundation and 11 other nonprofit charities in North Texas!

Elm Creek Flower Farm (Sulphur Springs, TX)

Experience a one-of-a-kind floral adventure at this self-serve Flower Barn just outside of Dallas. Explore their dynamic assortment of freshly hand-picked flowers sourced directly from their farm fields. Discover a dazzling variety of blooms, ranging from lively sunflowers, elegant daffodils to colorful daisies, perfect for every taste and event. Pet Friendly: Dogs are welcome for photoshoots, but they must be kept on a leash at all times. The owner is responsible for any damages to crops, and you must clean up after your pet.

Flower Picking Near Austin & San Antonio  

Doe-Ri-Mi Lavender Farm (Yancey, TX)

Doe-Ri-Mi is known for its gorgeous lavender fields, full of 1,500 plants and 20 different varieties! Keep an eye on their Facebook page for picking days, times, and prices, as there are several U-pick dates throughout the year. They’re open Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM, but we always recommend calling ahead, just to play it safe! 

Take a moment to pet the goats, chickens, cats, dogs, and donkeys once you are done loading up on serotonin. Then, browse the farm’s country store for all kinds of lavender products. Try homemade gelato, lavender lemonade, and lavender honey coffee at the cafe, and pick-up plants from the greenhouse! Don’t forget to try their extremely popular homemade cinnamon rolls!

Pet Friendly: No

Sweet Berry Farm (Marble Falls, TX)

Sweet Berry Farms is known for three things: Tulips, Strawberries, and Sunflowers. Strawberry season is mid-March through mid-May, tulip season is late February through early March, and sunflower season is June. There will also be Ranunculus through April. Remember, these are the dates the farm is most likely to open for the season, but it’s best to check their website, social media, or give them a call before you visit!

You should know that the admission fee is $5, and you pay $2 per flower, while strawberries are $3.25 per pound, and reusable, picking boxes are 75 cents each. There are other activities at the farm to keep the whole family entertained, like the berry bounce house, sand art, the Sweet Berry Express, Paint-a-Pot, and pony rides. If you need a minute to power back up, then grab a homemade ice cream or popsicle!

There are many things to do at the farm, especially for large families! Be sure to prepare for muddy conditions and bring an extra pair of shoes just in case. You can also visit the farm in the fall for their pumpkin patch mid-September through mid-November.

Aboud Family Farm (Salado, TX)

Aboud Family Farm is known for growing the most beautiful tulips in the area! You get a cute wicker basket for your tulips; it’s the perfect photo prop and will help keep the shapes of your tulips as you move around the field.

They also grow giant sunflowers in 10 different colors, as well as four types of blackberries! Prices, times, and dates will be announced as blooming time approaches, so keep an eye on their social media channels. Tulips are delicate flowers that bloom for a short period of time, so once the season is officially open, grab a partner, hop in the car, and plan an impromptu photo session! 

Exciting news from the Aboud Family Farm! This winter, they planted over 60 Mulberry trees, with plans to expand even further. They’re aiming to offer U-Pick Mulberries by spring 2025. Among the 3 varieties they planted – Pakistan, Valdosta, and Illinois Everbearing – these are no ordinary wild varieties and represent the best of Aboud Family Farm’s years of cultivation and trials. 

Note: There are no tulips for 2024 as the family will be out of town this Spring Break. Watch their Facebook page to see when blackberries and sunflowers will be available.

Hill Country Lavender (Blanco, TX)

At Hill Country Lavender Farm in Blanco, Texas, you can pick your own lavender after the farmers show you how to do it right! Choose your own lavender from the 2,000 lavender plants on 1.25 acres of land and take it home! The last two years have been difficult due to the weather, so be sure to check their website to see if the farm is open this season!

The lavender on the farm starts displaying color from late May to early June and remains in bloom until early July. During seasons of abundant harvest, the farm offers the opportunity for U-Pick lavender. In their store, you can buy all things lavender that will make your home smell wonderful!

Note: For 2024, they are open from April 20th until December 16th, Thursdays through Saturday, from 10 AM to 4 PM. For the most up-to-date information on bloom status and harvest availability, please visit their website or their Facebook.

Pet Friendly: Yes, as long as they are leashed, well-behaved, and you pick up after them.

Rough Creek Lavender Fields (Wimberley, TX)     

This local lavender farm is the oldest lavender farm in the Texas Hill Country, and offers great views of the Blanco River Valley, a lavender field to pick from, and a gift shop stocked with hand-made, lavender products. You can also shop for their products online.

What you need to know is that this is a small operations farm, the staff is friendly, and they communicate their operation times via their social media, so stay tuned! Historically, blooming happens in June.

Pet Friendly: No

Rockberry Ranch (Poteet, TX)

Clear your schedule for the day and head to Rockberry Ranch to spend the day getting your hands dirty! They have festivals like Spring Festival (mid-March to late May), SA Bloomfest (late March to late April), Blackberries & Blooms (early May to late May), Strawberry Field days (mid-March to mid-April), Sunflower Fest (early April to early May), La La Lavender Days (early May to late May) and Pumpkin Fest (fall season). But, please note that the U-Pick Berries and Flowers are weather-dependent and subject to change. Pick your own Poteet Strawberries at their 3-acre U-Pick Strawberry Patch!

Admission to the farm is $15.95, which includes one-time admission to the U-Pick fields for pictures (picked fruit and flowers not included) and 25+ attractions like photo opportunities in front of the “Howdy” mural, the Rock Berry Barnyard & Petting Corral, live music performances, wagon rides, jumping pillows, the bee train, and wooden playscapes. They also have a season pass of only $39.95.

Each weekend, there is something new going on at the ranch; check out their website to plan ahead, and don’t forget to purchase your tickets online!

Arnosky Family Farm Market (Blanco, TX)

The Arnosky family is noted as the Marigold Capital of Texas and runs their farm based on Scout’s honor code! It’s a self-service farm in the Blanco area, with fresh-cut flowers and plants spread out in the Blue Barn Market building for you to pick from and pay for using the collection box with cash or check. You don’t pick 100% of the flowers yourself from the field, but you still get to choose from a wide variety of flowers spread out on tables inside the building, so for us, that still counts! They are open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.

You can purchase their flowers at the Wimberley HEB as well! For updates, be sure to check their website.

Pet Friendly: No

Wildseed Farms (Fredericksburg, TX)

Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg is the largest working wildflower farm in the nation, 200 acres of wildflowers and grapevines! You can pick and assemble your own bucket of wildflowers, shop in the gift store, two-step to live music, visit their tasting room and Biergarten, walk the wildflower seed trails and gardens, take home a plant from the Lantana Nursery, and, if you have a green thumb, buy their wildflower seeds for your own garden!

Their farm is open daily from 9:30 AM until 5 PM. The fields around the property are typically filled with blooming flowers from March to October. For 2024, their Wildflower Celebration is happening from March until April. They also have a butterfly garden that attracts various pollinators with hummingbird feeders. Check their website for exact dates and for regular bloom updates before you visit!

Western Belle Farm (West, TX)

They have festivals in the spring and fall where you can walk beautiful flower trails, pick your own strawberries, enjoy live music from local artists, try all the farm activities, visit farm animals, and more!

Admission to this farm just North of Waco is $14 per person for individuals three years of age and older. This gives you access to the entire farm, over 20 activities in one day, but this doesn’t include the pumpkin and apple cannons, sunflower and pumpkin picking, or concessions. They have found the perfect formula to give you and your family a day full of fun activities!

The U-Pick strawberries are $5 per pound, so make sure to check their website for picking availability. The sunflower festival will start mid-May until mid-June. The Easter Festival runs from March 29, 2024 until April 10, 2024. You can purchase tickets online. Check back for information concerning their Fall Festival.

Pet Friendly: There is a pup pass of $5.00 where 100% of the proceeds are donated to local animal rescue. Please keep them on a leash and clean up after them. No pets are allowed in the U-Pick field due to food safety regulations.

Flower Picking Near Houston

Atkinson Farm (Spring, TX)

Atkinson Farm is located just 30 minutes north of Houston. You can pick sunflowers, blackberries, strawberries, and tomatoes or buy their bagged produce in their small store! They have homegrown cantaloupes, watermelons and a lot more! The farm is open seasonally, so be sure to check their Facebook for what is available for U-pick, as well as dates, prices, and hours so you don’t miss the opportunity to visit! 

Pet Friendly: No.

Neal’s Berry Farm & Farmer’s Market (Waller, TX)

Neal’s Berry Farm is designed so that you can pick everything they grow! Here you’ll find figs, chili peppers, nectarines, thornless blackberries, yellow squash, green zucchini, yellow zucchini, carrots, beets, chard, kale, tomatoes, flowers, cucumbers, beets, green onions, zinnias and sunflowers. In short: SO many things!

Blackberry season usually lasts from late May until mid-June. Fruits, including figs, thornless blackberries, muscadine grapes and nectarines, are $7 per pound whilst most vegetables are $3 per pound. You can buy as many zinnias as you can fit in our large Solo Cup for $3.00 whilst sunflower is $1 per stem. Make sure to always check their website or their social media for picking and pricing updates.

Admission is $3 per person (two years and older). Cash is preferred but they take all forms of payment except checks.

Note: They are expecting to open in late April or early May 2024. Check back for the exact date when it comes available.

Blessington Farms (Simonton, TX)

Each season, Blessington Farms offers a variety of U-pick products, such as blueberries, blackberries, and flower picking, plus pumpkins from the pumpkin patch in the fall! Blueberry season usually starts mid April and blackberry starts early May.

If you just want to pick, you don’t have to pay for admission, only for what you end up picking which is $10 per pound for the berries and $1 a stem for sunflowers. However, if you want access to Farm Funland and its 20+ attractions, you’ll pay $28.64 online for an admission ticket or $75 for the season pass. Some of the attractions include hayrides, giant slides, tire mountain, gem mining, fishing, goat feeding, and aviary access! Please make sure to always check their website for updates.

If you plan on staying longer, be sure to pack snacks for a picnic on the grounds, as there isn’t any hot food available. Sometimes food trucks are on the grounds, but this is only during peak season, so definitely plan ahead!

P-6 Farms (Montgomery, TX)

This farm in Montgomery is a community-loved and supported farm that offers activities almost year-round, such as their Pumpkin Patch in the fall, their Easter Festival in spring, and U-pick blackberries & sunflowers in the summer!  Come see why visiting P-6 Farms has become a seasonal tradition for local families and visitors alike! Dates are announced on their website and social media. Sunflowers are $4 per bloom. Phones are welcome for photo op except for drones and professional photography sessions.

Keep in mind you must bring your own scissors for picking, you are not able to bring your own bucket, and blackberries are $7 per pound. For each full, six-pound equivalent bucket, a $1.25 will be added to your total for each full bucket. Closed toe shoes and gloves are recommended. Prepare for the heat with sunscreen, a hat, water, etc.
